One of the reasons for the unparalleled success of the IPL is the glamour quotient associated with it. Especially the league has been receiving great support from the Bollywood stars. Some of them have also been involved with the franchises. So in a way, the IPL has developed a strong bond between cricket and the entertainment industry.

Furthermore, it has increased the fanbase as the audience get to see multiple stars at the same place. In particular, the opening and closing shows have been an attractive feature of the league. It contains several celebrities from different backgrounds. Music, dance and the wonderful interaction between the stars have always charmed the audience.

Having said that it is highly unlikely that the league will organize such shows in IPL 2020 in the wake of threat from the coronavirus. The league will not want to set a wrong example when the Indian government has strictly advised to limit the celebratory events. Besides the stars will also be hesitant to perform in these crunch times.
