It will be to no one’s surprise if the Mumbai based team sticks to Quinton De Kock as their opener. His attacking batting style right at the beginning of the innings is exactly what MI requires and the left-hander ended with a massive 529 runs in 16 games at a phenomenal average of 35.26 last year.

Undoubtedly, the South African has the potential to take the game away from the opposition. He has provided the team with solid starts on numerous occasions. Not only does De Kock put to rest the batting order debate with his fearless striking, but, he becomes valuable to the team with his ability to also keep the wickets. This allows the team to either pitch in a hard hitter down the order or bring in a specialist bowler.

If De Kock’s manages to bring in his sensational current form, it may prove to be a challenging encounter for the opposing bowlers. Moreover having a noteworthy stint with the four-time winners, the South African seems to be the go-to-man to open for the Indians this season.

With a great set of team members to choose from, Mumbai Indians will have an unenviable task of dropping some talent, given the Indian-overseas player rules. This pool will also ensure that they also have a strong bench with backups available for almost all players in case of any unforeseen issues.
