5 Reasons why England can beat Australia to win the Royal London one-day series: If Australia thinks they can clinch the series with ease- they are highly mistaken. It’s time for the champions to hold their horse because when England reaches their full potential, they never look back; they never pause until they quench their thirst of clinching the trophy. Australia, of course, won the two starting games, however if we track the Ashe of 2015, England lost the first Test match later they won three consecutive games and brought home the bacon.
Let us not beat around the bush and go through the top five factors which are working in English favour 5 Reasons why England can beat Australia to win the Royal London one-day series:
1. Home Advantage:
There is an English saying that it is hard to live in Rome and fight with pope. The same is true about the English team. England is having ice advantages over the visiting team clearly they have chances to reap the benefits of their home conditions which Australia is lacking. Plus the fans are out there to cheer for the home player’s which is an advantage as well as an ‘incentive’. It was not so long ago when erstwhile Australian skipper Ricky Ponting asked the ICC (International Cricket Council) to do away with the toss and allow the visiting team decides which side would bat first. Agreeably England is in advantage as far as the factor of home advantages is concerned.
2. High Morale:
Winning the Ashes series is no small feat. England won the tournament by registering a win in three successive Test games which has raised the level of confidence of England. In the third match of the ongoing ODI series, they played their game freely there was no sign of pressure on England despite losing the first two. This is what makes the English players different from Australia. And there is nothing to exaggerate that this thumping victory will further boost their morale.

3. Eoin Morgan’s form:
His form will be divisive factor in the series. In last three games he has scored 185 runs. In first match he made 38 off 46, in the he hit a striking 85 from 87 balls with four sensational 6’s and in the third game he scored 62 runs from just 56 deliveries with seven 4’s and a single six. The Aussies are nettled by his constant performance. 28 year old Morgan is supposed to play a crucial role in deciding the tournament.
4. The Spin duo of Ali and Rashid:
In last three games, both spinners have grabbed 11 wickets together. A. Rashid sent four Australian players back to pavilion in the first match. In the second game they took one wicket each and proved to be rather economically expensive. However, they bounced back in the third one where Rashid got two wickets while Ali took 3 wickets. The Australians showed no degree of confidence while playing the spinners in the third match. If both display the same performance, Australia will surely find themselves in trouble.
5. England’s record at Leeds and Manchester:
In the past 11 years, there have been 12 ODI games on Leeds Cricket Ground in which England have come off with flying colours in six matches, they have lost only 3 matches (one to India and two to Sri Lanka) while no result was drawn in three games. The last match when England was scheduled to play Australia on September 6, 2013 was sadly abandoned. The fifth game of this series is going to be played at the Manchester Stadium. At this stadium, beating England is a hard nut to crack. Over the last 7 years, 7 ODI games have been played on this cricket ground in which England has lost just a single game and won the rest six.
