Taking the leadership baton from Angelo Mathews, he captained Pune Warriors India back in 2013 for a one-off match against Chennai Super Kings at the latter’s home ground– the Chepauk stadium.

As it turned out, the match ended on a high note for Ross Taylor as he became the only player in the history of IPL to have a 100 per cent win conversion. Moreover, he etched another phenomenal record in the same match to his name.  He became the third New Zealand cricketer to lead-from-the-front after Brendon McCullum guided Kolkata Knight Riders in 2008 and Daniel Vettori was given the power position of Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011.
