The Indian Premier League (IPL) is supposed to be a platform for the young talent of the country to unleash themselves at the highest level. They get an opportunity to rub their shoulders with some of the best in cricketers around the world cricket and the tournament has more often than not proved to be a path for the national team. The 21-year-old Ricky Bhui began his journey on Sunday after Sunrisers Hyderabad handed him a debut in the cash-rich T20 league which is termed as one of the best in the World.

The youngster was lucky to get a chance in the playing XI for his team as their opener Shikhar Dhawan copped a blow to his hand while batting in his last game. He was retired hurt from that match and even failed to recover in time for the ongoing game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). It is a great opportunity for Ricky to put his hands up for his team and deliver in crunch times.

Here we bring you some of the interesting facts about Ricky Bhui:

1. Birth

Ricky Kannakumar Bhui was born on September 26 in 1996 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. But he plays the domestic cricket for Andhra Pradesh.

2. Captaincy at U19 level

Ricky began his U19 career with seven 30-plus scores including three half-centuries in his first nine innings in 2013. The youngster also went on to lead India in 2015 in a couple of triangular tournaments in India and Sri Lanka. Interestingly, he was the captain of the gun players like Rishabh Pant, Sarfaraz Khan.

3. U19 World Cup

He went on to represent the national team the very next year at the junior level and also played the U19 World Cup in 2014 and 2016 as well.

4. Sensational debut

Ricky Bhui made a sensational debut for Andhra in the domestic 50-over tournament in 2014 by smacking a century off 79 deliveries and announced his arrival. He also made a half-century on debut in the shortest format of the game against Karnataka scoring 53 off just 34 balls.

5. Domestic career

So far he has scored 752 runs in 23 matches in the 50-over format at an impressive average of 53.71 with 5 more half-centuries. He has scored all his runs at a strike-rate of 82.54. Ricky averages 42.50 with the bat in the first-class cricket in 23 games with 4 tons and 7 scores over 50 to his name. He is also a decent T20 batsman as he strikes at 119.83 in the format.

6. With SRH since 2014

He is with SRH franchise since 2014 but made his debut today. Despite not getting the chance to play any game, the franchise had retained his services in 2016 as well and also took him in the auction earlier this year.
