Indian Test captain Virat Kohli is set to reach another milestone during the 4th Test against England next week. The 28-year-old Kohli, who is in top form, is 41 runs away from completing 4,000 Test runs and is likely to get to the landmark in Mumbai. Having already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 5-match rubber, hosts India will be keen to claim the series at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium when the 4th Test starts on Thursday (December 8).

Kohli already is on high this year having amassed 405 runs in the ongoing series against England. So far this year, he has got 965 runs at an average of 68.92 including three centuries. The star Delhi batsman, who made his debut in 2011 against West Indies in West Indies, will become the 14th Indian batsman to cross the 4,000-Test runs’ barrier. So far in 51 Tests, Kohli has 3,959 runs at an average of 48.28. He has 14 hundreds and a same number of half centuries.

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar heads the illustrious list of leading run scorer for India and in the world with 15,921 runs. Apart from Tendulkar, legendary names like Rahul Dravid (13,288), Sunil Gavaskar (10,122), VVS Laxman (8,781), Virender Sehwag (8,586), Sourav Ganguly (7,212), Dilip Vengasarkar (6,868), Mohammad Azharuddin (6,215), Gundappa Vishwanath (6,080), Kapil Dev (5,248) for the top ten of the list of highest run-getters among Indians. It won’t be wrong to predict that Kohli will probably set to break most of the batting records that exists as of now and would also break the 10000 run barrier in the next five years.
