India won the second Test match against New Zealand at Wankhede in Mumbai by a massive margin of 372 runs to continue their winning streak of 14 games at home. Though India won the game and series in style, there was one visitor who remained successful in grabbing all the limelight and it was none other than spinner Ajaz Patel.

Patel clinched all 10 wickets in innings to become the only third bowler in history to achieve the feat after Jim Laker and Anil Kumble. In the same line of events, Ravi Ashwin took to his Twitter to talk about Patel’s account getting verified on the microblogging site. It has to be noted that Patel’s account is still not verified on Twitter (at the time of writing this article) and Ashwin took note of the same thing in his post.

“Dear @verified a ten wicket bag in an innings definitely deserves to be verified here! Face with tears of joy @AjazP,” tweeted Ravi Ashwin.

A big occasion for me and my family: Ajaz Patel

Talking of Patel, he took all 10 wickets in the first innings and went on to bag four wickets in the next innings to complete his total of 14 wickets. However, Mayank Agarwal was declared as the player of the series for smashing 150 and 62 runs respectively in the first and second innings. On the other hand, Ashwin bagged the player of the series award.

“A big occasion for me and my family, to be able to do that here in Mumbai is very special. A lot of hard work has gone for me (going into the Test). Have spent plenty of time in isolation and need to recover. A different challenge back home, but that’s the beauty of Test cricket – different roles, different challenges and need to bowl in a different manner. I can’t express in words, something in my career which was an overwhelming moment, have a lot of people to thank for when I go back home. Feel lucky to have achieved something special,” said Patel after the completion of the series.
