The second One-Day International between India and Australia saw another incident of pitch invasion. The incidents have become common nowadays as fans are constantly breaching the security to get on the field in order to hug their beloved stars or click a selfie with them. But despite the constant security breaches, the officials and organisers have done little to ensure that the players’ safety is not compromised.

Something similar happened on Tuesday too. Team India players were making their way out to the field for the second innings of the game when an intruder came running in to hug MS Dhoni. It led to hilarious scenes as Dhoni decided to have some fun at the expense of the fan. The former India skipper decided to run away and he kept running before he eventually stopped and allowed the fan to touch his feet.

This was the second time in the last couple of months when a fan invaded the pitch to interact with Dhoni. Last month, a fan had run onto the pitch holding an Indian tri-colour when the Men in Blue were playing a T20I game in New Zealand. But fortunately so far, none of the pitch invader has done anything malicious. But then again there are always some concerns and former India opener Aakash Chopra has expressed his disappointment over it.

The cricketer-turned-commentator took to Twitter to share a clip of the latest incident of the pitch invasion and pointed out the ‘serious lapse in security’. “Serious lapse in security. How was he not even chased by the guards??? Happening too often,” wrote Aakash Chopra.

India beat Australia

Talking about the game, India beat Australia by eight runs to go 2-0 up in the series. Put in to bat first, the hosts scored 250 with skipper Virat Kohli’s 116 leading the charge. In reply, Australia put up a good fight but were eventually all out for 242 in the final over of the match. The third match of the series will be played in Ranchi on March 8.
