The COVID-19 pandemic has disturbed the world in irreparable senses, and things are still taking time to fall back to place. The world of cricket was no different as it saw absolutely no action for around six months keeping in mind the risk of virus. However, England started hosting nations for the bilateral series, and that is how men’s international cricket resumed. Women’s international cricket was yet to kick-off, and the WODI series between India and Australia was on cards.

However, in the latest turn of events, Cricket Australia confirmed that the WODI series between India and Australia has been called off in view of COVID-19 risk. The latest development in the field of women’s cricket has once again halted the action for them, and former cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has voiced his opinion on the same matter.

Chopra believed that it is clear gender discrimination and inequality towards women as their male counterparts are already up for international action. Indian men’s team is currently playing against Australia in a mega-series that kicked off right after IPL 2020. In fact, the Test series is still on, and on the other hand, women’s series are suffering because of the pandemic.

Aakash Chopra tweets on discrimination in cricket world

Chopra is too vocal about stating his opinions in the world of cricket and everything that is related to it. These remarks by him are on point and might create a stir in the cricket fraternity. Indian women were involved in the Women’s T20 Challenge in UAE in the month of November only, and the Australia series would have marked their resumption in the field of international cricket. However, its cancellation has come as a setback for their world, where famed players from women’s cricket stated earlier that they are looking forward to the resumption in action too soon.

Chopra recently also pointed out that MS Dhoni’s place in the T20I team of the decade is questionable as neither he has done anything great for India nor India has done too well in the T20I series in the decade.
