Aaron Finch will miss the 16th match of Vivo Indian Premier League (IPL) between Gujarat Lions and the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In the toss, Gujarat Lions captain Suresh Raina said that it was unfortunate that Finch had to miss out as his kit bag didn’t arrive. Lions won their first match of the tournament by beating Rising Pune Supergiant in the previous encounter.
We just need to start well. We’ve been chasing well. Last game, we batted well. We’ll look to score and see what happens. The wicket looks pretty dry. It might get slower. Hopefully, we post a good score and defend. We have 2 changes. Finchy misses out, unfortunately, his kit bag didn’t arrive. Jason Roy and Munaf Patel come in for Finch and Jakati.
He hasn’t been in the best of forms off late apart from a 33 of 19 balls in the previous encounter against Rising Pune Supergiant. He was there until the end to see the match off for the home team as he smashed a couple of sixes to finish off proceedings. The problem of many has caused a lot of headache to Gujarat Lions camp given the fact they have four world class all-rounders in their ranks.
The right-handed batsman captained the national side during the T20I series against Sri Lanka when the Test side was busy competing in a 4 match series in India. Despite not being in the best of forms, Finch was surely missed in today’s game.
Here is the Playing XI for both the teams
Gujarat Lions (Playing XI): Dwayne Smith, Brendon McCullum, Jason Roy, Suresh Raina(c), Dinesh Karthik(w), Ishan Kishan, Ravindra Jadeja, Praveen Kumar, Andrew Tye, Basil Thampi, Munaf Patel
