AB de Villiers was his own lethal self when he lit up the Ram Slam T20 Challenge with a destructive 19-ball fifty at the Centurion. In the third match of the domestic tournament, the Lions faced the Titans wherein de Villiers and Albie Morkel guided the former to a splendid 8-wicket victory.

Winning the toss, the Lions elected to bat first and posted a target of 127 in a shortened 15-over game. RR Hendricks, with his 42-ball 67 was the top scorer of the innings. However, the Titans were quick to scale the chase as AB de Villiers blitzed through the innings after an early contribution from Quinton de Kock where he scored 39 off 24 balls. Mr. 360° along with Morkel built a 3rd wicket partnership of 50 runs off 22 balls.

While AB registered a quick fifty, skipper Albie Morkel hit 41 off 16 balls as Titans romped home to a comfortable win in a rain-curtailed encounter against Lions.

During ABD’s blitzkrieg was one of mandatory unorthodox shot off Kagiso Rabada that oozed brilliance. It was the 12th over, the Titans were already 134-2 and needed 1 run to seal the match. AB was batting at 44 and, this last six brought up his half-century.

He had already hammered Hendricks for 16 runs in the previous over. In the first ball of Rabada’s over, he again unleashed a six and then followed it up with an ABD special scoop off the full length delivery over fine leg to bring an end to his stellar knock and the match.

This was de Villiers’ 38th Twenty20 fifty and his exploits helped the Titans, the defending champions in the Ram Slam Twenty20 tournament, get five points. South Africa’s next international assignment is a four-day Pink Ball Test against Zimbabwe before they prepare for a major tour by India in January 2018
