Tamil Nadu opening batsman Abhinav Mukund is all set to miss out on the All India Buchi Babu Invitational Cricket tournament’s opening game (Duleep Trophy) between India Reds and India Green. Mukund was also appointed as the captain of India Red team.

It is said that the batsman was unwell and did not join the team in Lucknow. The first match of the tournament is scheduled to be played at the brand new Ekana International Stadium in Lucknow. ICC is scheduled to accredit the venue internationally.

In the absence of Abhinav Mukund, his Tamil Nadu team mate Dinesh Karthik is supposed to take over the captaincy for the encounter on Thursday. As one man’s loss is another man’s gain, the absence of Mukund has now opened doors for Sudip Chatterjee who would open the innings with Priyank Panchal.

Parthiv Patel and Suresh Raina would lead the India Green and India Blue team in the tournament. The likes of Murali Vijay, Siddharth Kaul, Parvez Rasool, Mohammad Siraj, Karun Nair, Shreyas Iyer and many others feature on India Green side, whereas the Red squad boasts the likes of Rishabh Pant, Ambati Rayudu, and Dhawal Kulkarni.
