Abu Dhabi T10 2021: Yusuf Pathan ruled out of the tournament due to a back injury

The Chennai Braves suffered a blow to their Abu Dhabi T10 campaign as their icon player Yusuf Pathan has been ruled out of the entire tournament due to an injury that he suffered in Chennai’s first match against the Deccan Gladiators on 20th November 2021.

Pathan might have suffered the injury in an attempt to stop the ball at short third man and as a result, injured his back. The official Twitter handle of the Chennai Braves confirmed Pathan’s injury.

The Chennai Braves also wished the former Indian cricketer a speedy recovery from his injury. Team Update – “Our Icon Player – Yusuf Pathan has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament due to an injury sustained in the first match. We wish him a speedy recovery,” read the tweet from the official handle of the Chennai Braves side.

Chennai Braves went down to the Northern Warriors in their previous match

The Chennai Braves lost their previous encounter to the Northern Warriors by 19 runs. Batting first, the Warriors piled up a mammoth total of 152/4 in their allotted 10 overs, with openers Kennar Lewis and Moeen Ali putting on a blistering partnership of 106 runs.

In reply, the Chennai Braves were bowled out for a total of 133. Bhanuka Rajapaksa top-scored for the Chennai side with a 13-ball 34. Oshane Thomas scalped 3 wickets with the ball for the Northern Warriors outfit.

The Chennai Braves have endured an abysmal campaign in the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 League. The Dasun Shanaka led side has lost all the 5 matches that it has played and is languishing at the last place in the points table.

The Chennai Braves will next be seen in action on 26th November 2021 when they lock horns with the Deccan Gladiators. This clash will be held at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
