There was an incident that took place in the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 League that grabbed the eyeballs, and it had nothing to do with a scintillating performance with either bat or ball. It isn’t even about an acrobatic save on the field.
Rohan Mustafa removed his jersey on the field when he was fielding in the deep. The cameras caught the same, and it has become the talk of the town now. A player removing his jersey in the middle of the field is certainly not a common sight, especially in a sport labelled as the gentleman’s game.
Now, Mustafa has released a statement apologizing for the incident. He has stated that he was preparing to bowl in the next over, and in a bid to remove his jumper, he inadvertently removed his jersey as well. He also admitted that it was surely not the best time to change clothing and said that he did not keep up with the standards of the tournament organization. Mustafa’s statement concluded with an apology to both his team management as well as the organizers.
“I apologise to my team mates and to all involved in the Abu Dhabi T10 for my conduct during this game. I was preparing myself to bowl, and whist attempting to remove my jumper in preparation for my over, I mistakenly removed my playing shirt also. I acknowledge this was a poor time to rearrange any item of clothing and not in keeping with the high standards of the tournament organization. I have apologized to both team management and the organisers,” read his statement.
