Match Details:

The 2nd match in Group A of the ACC Under-19s Asia Cup 2019 will be played between Afghanistan Under-19s and Pakistan Under-19s at the P Sara Oval in Colombo.

The match starts at 9:30 AM local time (4:00 AM GMT) (9:30 AM IST).

Preview:

P Sara Oval will host one of the two U19 Asia Cup matches to be played on the first day of the tournament as Pakistan Under-19s takes on Afghanistan Under-19s. In the last couple of years, the Afghan team has thoroughly dominated the Pakistan team in Youth ODIs. Since the start of 2017, the two sides met on the three instances and the Afghanistan team won in all three.

In fact, two of those wins came during the 2017 Asia Cup including one in the final of that tournament. Afghanistan bundled out Pakistan to 57 and 63 respectively in that competition and also defeated in the league phase match in the 2018 Under-19s CWC. However, the current set of players from Afghanistan are regarded to be the weaker ones while Pakistan is fresh of a 7-0 Youth ODI series win in South Africa.

Weather Condition/Report:

A brief period of time was lost during the recent Test match between the hosts and Blackcaps at the P Sara Oval due to heavy rains. However, the forecast is much better for this Asia Cup match. The skies are expected to be partly cloudy and spells of rain overnight and towards the end of the game. Minimum of 20 overs each side to produce a result can be completed in the remaining time.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The P Sara Oval hosted three Youth ODIs between Sri Lanka and Australia at the start of the year. All the three games witnessed 250+ totals which can, in general, be chased down due to the short boundaries. However, there was enough seam movement for the pacers throughout the recently concluded Test between Sri Lanka and New Zealand. The teams might avoid batting first in such cases.

Average first innings score: 274 (Youth ODI matches in 2019)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 1, Lost – 2
