Taliban taking over Afghanistan earlier this month has affected a lot of lives. Television actress and model Arshi Khan is no different to it. Arshi has revealed that she was about to get engaged to an Afghanistan cricketer later this year but now fears that the relationship might not go forward given the current situation in the country.

Arshi has found herself in controversies time and again. She was a contestant in a popular reality show ‘Big Boss 11′ and had also returned to the show in the 14th season as a challenger. Arshi Khan is also known for her work in TV shows like Savitri Devi College & Hospital’, ‘Vish’ and ‘Ishq Mein Marjawan’. Apart from all this, the actress has also appeared web series – ‘Raat Ki Rani Begum Jaan’ and ‘The Evil Desires’.

She was supposed to get engaged to the Afghanistan cricketer (didn’t reveal his name) in October and Arshi also stated that groom was chosen by her father. “I was to get engaged in October with an Afghanistan cricketer. He had been chosen by my father. But after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, we may have to put an end to the relationship,” she was quoted as saying by Zee News.

We are like friends but engagement could be called off now, says Arshi

Arshi Khan also added that she was in touch with her fiance and they were also like friends. “He was my father’s friend’s son. We are also on talking terms and are like friends, but now I’m sure my parents will find me an Indian partner,” she added. The 31-year-old also opened up about her family’s roots being in Afghanistan. However, her family moved to India when she was just four years old.

“I’m an Afghani Pathan, and my family belongs to the Yusufzai ethnic group. My grandfather had migrated from Afghanistan and was a jailer in Bhopal. My roots are in Afghanistan, but I am very much an Indian citizen, like my parents and grandparents,” Arshi Khan further said.
