During his prime, there was none as lethal with the blade as the Nawab of Najafgarh, Virender Sehwag. Sehwag tore away the opposition apart with his aggressive approach and hand-eye coordination. The Sultan of Multan has faced some of the greatest bowling lineups during his tenure as an opener but has dealt with all in the same manner.

If we intend to derive an Australian analogy of a batsman like Sehwag, it has to be swashbuckling wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist. Much like Sehwag, Gilchrist too brought a fearless brand of cricket to torment bowlers at the other end, creating havoc in the opposition’s dressing room.

India and Australia have currently locked horns against each other for 5-match ODI series and 3-match T20I series. The high-octane series has the entire audiences from both countries glued along with former cricketers. The Kangaroos have been disappointing in the series until now as they found the men in blue too hot to handle.

With their five-wicket win, yesterday at Holkar Stadium, Indore, India takes an unassailable lead of 3-0, to clinch their sixth consecutive bilateral series win. Sehwag, who is also a renowned Hindi commentator covering the ongoing series against, has a special relationship with Indore as he broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 200* on this very ground back in 2011 against West Indies with his mammoth score of 219.

Gilchrist took this as an opportunity to post a hilarious meme depicting the terror he carried within the opposition’s camp. “Let’s face it… @virendersehwag could create the odd headache for an opposition attack!!” captioned Adam Gilchrist’s tweet.

Unlike some of the Australian cricketers, Gilly is widely lovely adored in a country like India. The southpaw had been part of the IPL for a number of years with the Deccan Chargers and Kings XI Punjab. As a result, the cricket-loving Indian strata on Twitter could not help but state their affection for Gilly.
