Former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist is often revered as one of the best wicketkeepers of the game. The modern-day legends like MS Dhoni also rate Gilly as his role model. Team India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel is no different. He considers Gilchrist as the wicketkeeper he looks up to. With both Patel and Gilchrist having the same skill sets of the game, the fact is only an obvious statement.

In a recent tweet, Gilly mentioned that he is happy to see Parthiv make a comeback. Apparently, when Parthiv Patel broke onto the big stage as a 17-year-old, he had asked a lot of questions to the Aussie. Patel was in the Indian team that toured Australia in 2003.

The 17-year old Gujarat boy then had a lot to learn from his idol on the flight when they both had first met. SportsIndia.com asked Adam Gilchrist in a tweet about the incident and the Aussie legend just confirmed the news. In a tweet by the website, they wrote, “@parthiv9 Congrats on your second debut with India! Well done! Heard a 17 year old once inundated @gilly381 with Qs thru a plane journey!”

In reply to the tweet, the former left-handed batsman called Parthiv one of the nicest players in the game. He also expressed his happiness on Patel’s return to the national side. He further confirmed that indeed Parthiv had thrown a lot of questions at him. He wrote, “@parthiv9 was and still is one of the nicest blokes in cricket. And yes, he belted me with questions on that flight!! Great to see him back.”

Parthiv Patel was quick to reply to the tweet. He called Adam Gilchrist a legend of the game and mentioned that the appreciation from his idol certainly means a lot. He tweeted, “@gilly381 thank you so much..appreciation from my idol means a lot..#legend.”

Patel recently made his comeback to the national side after 8 long years. He scored a brilliant unbeaten 67 in the second inning of the Mohali Test against England and took the team home.
