One thing which is clear is that Adam Gilchrist was a wicketkeeper par excellence. In fact, such was his style of wicketkeeping that his mastery behind the stumps and his speed was something that was eventually mastered following a certain period of time. Therefore, when England Woman cricketer Sarah Taylor whipped off the bails in a jiffy to dismiss South African batsman Sune Luus in something that was certainly a spectacle, for Gilchrist at least.

In 1999, when the Aussies had decided to let go of their marksman and sharpshooter Ian Healy due to terrible form with both the gloves and the bat, it was quite clear that Adam Gilchrist was the obvious choice. In fact, the southpaw was such an impactful addtion to the Australia side that he immediately made an impact with some terrific batting displays,

In addition, his explosive nature and aggression with the bat was also something that ensured that cemented his place in the side ahead of the successors in the form of Ryan Campbell and Mark Love within the Australian ranks as well. He has since been replaced by Brad Haddin, and more recently by Tim Paine and Alex Carey in T20 internationals.

Sarah Taylor has been one of the most impressive England women’s cricketers in recent times. Similar to Gilchrist, she opens the batting and also is reputed for her ability to whack the ball a country mile. In addition, she has been instrumental in ensuring that the Brits are indeed one of the best cricket teams in the world as well.

Adam Gilchrist took to Twitter to state his happiness following Taylor’s exploits and dismissal of Sune Luus. His Tweet read: “Best in the World” something that he may very well be serious about.
