The skipper of the Indian team Virat Kohli celebrated his 29th birthday on Sunday as all the cricketing stalwarts wished him for a superb year ahead. The team celebrated his special day in grand style after the second T20I in Rajkot and smeared the cake all over his face which has become a routine now. However, there was a special wish from the officials of Adelaide Oval in Australia who paid a special tribute to him on his birthday.

Virat always loves the contest and Australia is one place where you have to defy all the odds as a cricketer and perform. The legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid did it with considerable success. But Virat Kohli has owned the grounds down under and Adelaide Oval is one of them. He scored his maiden Test century at the same ground and then continued to amass runs whenever he visited the country.

Unique tribute to the birthday boy

Virat Kohli himself would not have expected to be wished by the officials but they have won hearts with the special tribute to the Indian skipper. The official handle of Adelaide Oval posted the picture of their wish to Kohli and wrote, “Happy Birthday @imVkohli The Indian cricket team captain has scored a total of 624 runs at an average of 89 in 8 innings at #AdelaideOval.”

The 29-year-old averages 89 on the ground with 3 Test centuries to his name including the two he smashed in the same Test in 2014. He has also scored a memorable century in coloured clothing against the arch-rivals Pakistan in 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. Kohli has never failed to amaze his fans with his fluent stroke-play and has made his fans all over the world. It would be interesting to see what would be his reaction to the special tribute paid to him by his favourite ground.
