The debate about the better batsman between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam has been going on for so long now. The latter has already conceded that his Indian counter is always the best given that Kohli made his debut long before Babar. Moreover, it is unfair to compare both the players as Pakistan’s newly minted ODI and T20I skipper made his international debut only in 2015.

However, England spinner Adil Rashid, when quipped about the same question, picked Babar Azam as the better batsman ahead of Virat Kohli. But he cleared that his selection is purely based on current form. He also admitted that it is tough to pick the best between the two cricketers as both are supremely talented and world-class batsmen.

“It is a tough one that. So if you go on current form, I think I got to go with Babar Azam. That’s current form I’m talking about. I picked Babar Azam because he is in better form. They both are world-class players anyway,” Rashid said during his interaction with ‘At the Crease TV’.

Virat Kohli struggled on New Zealand tour

Adil Rashid is not wrong as Virat Kohli’s current form is worrying for team India. He struggled completely in New Zealand and managed to score only a solitary half-century. While he looked in good touch in the T20 Internationals, the Indian skipper’s form tapered off as the tour progressed. He scored a half-century (51) in the first ODI of the three-match series but didn’t cross 20 since then on the tour.

He was found wanting in testing conditions in the Test series where India lost both the matches. Kohli endured one of his worst series mustering only 38 runs in four outings in the whites. On the contrary, Babar Azam looked in great touch in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and also amassed runs during the home series against Bangladesh at home. He also jumped in the ICC Batting rankings across all the formats and looks set to pile on runs in the near future.
