Afghanistan produced a riveting performance in all departments of the game in the second ODI to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against Ireland. They restricted the Irish side to 259 and chased down the target with 7 wickets and 4.4 overs to spare.

For Ireland, Paul Stirling was the lone warrior with the willow. The right-hander scored a valiant 128 at the top of the order but did not get support from any of his teammates. As many as nine Irish batsmen could not even cross the 30-run mark. And, if it was opener Rahmatullah Gurbaz who was the catalyst in the first ODI for Afghanistan with the willow, in the second ODI it was Afghanistan’s No.3 and No.4 that stepped up to the task.

While Rahmat Shah scored an unbeaten 103, Hashmatullah Shahidi scored a valuable 82 to help Afghanistan to canter home comfortably. Ireland have their backs against the wall going into the final ODI and with 10 Super League points at stake, expect both the teams to give it their all to win this match.

Pitch and Conditions

The batsmen from both sides need to get their eye in, as the pitch will offer help to the spinners. In both the games, Mujeeb Ur Rahman troubled the Ireland batsmen with his guile. But then, once the batsmen play out a few deliveries and get set, they can kick on and make it count. The temperature will hover around 25 degrees, and it will be sunny for most of the game.
