The Sunrisers Hyderabad have stormed in to the finals of the IPL 2018. One man has been a key player in their side throughout the season – Rashid Khan. Rashid has been thoroughly impressive and the cricketing world just cannot thank him enough for his performances. Now, the Afghanistani President, Ashraf Ghani, has come up with a special message for the young leg spinner.

Rashid Khan was an unstoppable force in the recently concluded game against the Kolkata Knight Riders. It was the Qualifier 2, the penultimate game of the season, where a spot for the finals was up for grabs. The Orange Army were in dire straits in the game when Rashid walked in to bat. Out of nowhere, Rashid smacked boundaries at will to remain unbeaten on 34 in the 10 balls that he faced.

His efforts helped the team post a decent 174 runs on the board. Later, he spun his magic with the ball. Rashid was unplayable on the big day. He returned with magnificent figures of 4/19 in the four overs that he bowled. In his spell, he took the big wickets of Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, and Andre Russell. To add to this, he also pocketed two important catches and inflicted a run out in the game.

After the game, the President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani, posted a tweet praising Rashid. He hailed Rashid as the pride of the nation. Also, he thanked India for giving him the ideal platform to showcase his talents. He cheekily tagged the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, in his tweet.

Here is what Ashraf Ghani had to say:

“Afghans take absolute pride in our hero, Rashid Khan. I am also thankful to our Indian friends for giving our players a platform to show their skills. Rashid reminds us whats best about Afg. He remains an asset to the cricketing world. No we are not giving him away. @narendramodi,” Ashraf Ghani remarked in his tweet.
