Afghanistan now won in 8th series/tournament in the last 10 they have played as the eased past Ireland in the decider at Greater Noida with a 6-wicket victory. After making a strong start in the series, Afghanistan lost their next two games with Ireland making a slight comeback but the Afghan side didn’t ensure hopes of the Irish side went well in the all-important game. Here we look at all the records, stats and numbers recorded during the game and series.
2 – Ireland’s top 4 scoring 30+ was only the 2nd such instance for them in an ODI innings. Their top 4 scored over 30 was vs Netherlands in 2013.
2 – Number of centuries Rahmat Shah has scored in ODI cricket so far. He is now one of the 4 Afghanistan players to score multiple centuries in the ODI format. Mohammad Shahzad scored 4 centuries while Karin Sadiq and Nawroz Mangal scored two each.
3 – Number of 4-wicket hauls Rashid Khan has taken in this series, the joint most by any player in a bilateral ODI series. VC Drakes vs Bangladesh in 2002, Abdur Razzak vs Zimbabwe in 2010 and Matt Henry vs Sri Lanka in 2015 also took three 4-wicket hauls in a bilateral ODI series.
4 – Number of 4-wicket hauls Rashid Khan has taken in ODI cricket so far. Only Waqar Younis (4) has as many 4-fers in ODIs as Rashid as of his current age (18y 185d).

5 – Number of bilateral ODI series Afghanistan have won since 2015 ODI World Cup, joint second most for any team. England, New Zealand and South Africa have won 6 each while Australia and Bangladesh also won in 5 bilateral rubbers.

341 – Runs scored by Paul Stirling in this series, the most by any associate team player in a bilateral ODI series. He broke Ireland’s Ed Joyce record of 339 runs vs Afghanistan in last year’s 4-match series.
