Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane has been struggling with form recently across both formats of the game. He couldn’t hit out of his form either in the Test series and has been dropped from the playing XI in the one-dayers. The times are tough for the Mumbai cricketer but they got even tougher. After being benched from the first two ODIs, Ajinkya Rahane now has a family matter to solve.
His life on the field has been ever so tough but his life off the field is not going well either. His father was involved in a road accident and has been arrested for allegedly hitting a passerby while driving on a vacation. This comes as a stunning news to Ajinkya who isn’t with the family. The cricketer is with the national team fulfilling his duties for the limited-overs series.
Crust of the matter
According to Maharashtra Times, father, Madhukar Rahane, was travelling to Tarkarli in Konkan. He was driving on the Pune-Bengaluru highway when a 67-year-old lady came in his path. She was rushed to the hospital and had incurred several injuries. She was rushed to the nearest government hospital but later succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead. The lady was identified as Ashatai Kamble who belonged to a village nearby.
Madhukar was travelling with his wife and daughter. He was going on a vacation which went horribly wrong. A case was also filed against his father. Ajinkya is away while the family is in a situation where they’d need him.
He was later arrested under sections 304 A, 289, 337 and 338. All these sections are related to endangering life by negligence or irrational behaviour. The report was filed in the Kagal Police station near Kolhapur. This becomes even more serious as Ajinkya being one of the most loved cricketers in India. There was no further development in this case reported.
