It has been all chaos on social media regarding Alex Hales’ situation. While Ramiz Raja revealed earlier in the day that the England cricketer has developed symptoms of Coronavirus and will undergo tests soon, several news agencies soon reported that Hales has been tested positive. The cricketer himself has come out denied being tested positive and has now released an official statement regarding his health.

Hales has confirmed that he was fine while leaving Pakistan and only left the PSL midway to stay with his family during the spread of COVID-19 pandemic across the world. He returned home on Saturday and self-isolated himself after developing a fever the following day.

Moreover, Hales has also cleared that he is suffering from a dry and persistent cough and feels that he might undergo Coronavirus tests later in the day. “In the light of the speculation and rumour that is currently circulating within the cricket world and on social media, I felt I needed to give a full explanation of my situation.

“Like many other overseas players, I reluctantly left the Pakistan Super League early because, with COVID-19 reaching global pandemic status, I felt it was more important to be with my family rather than face a period of lockdown thousands of miles from home. I returned to the UK in the early hours of Saturday morning feeling perfectly fit and healthy and with absolutely no symptoms of the virus.

“However, I awoke early on Sunday morning having developed a fever and followed the government’s advice of self-isolation, a process I am obviously still following having developed a dry and persistent cough.
At this stage, it has not been possible to be tested although I am hopeful that might be the case later today so that I can get absolute confirmation of my current health status,” the statement read.

Alex Hales urges media not to spread fake news

Earlier, Alex Hales had taken to Twitter to urge the media to not spread the fake news after social media was filled with the news of him being tested positive for Coronavirus. “Stop spreading fake news, dangerous behaviour,” the 31-year-old had tweeted before releasing an official statement.

As far as his PSL 2020 stint is concerned, Alex Hales represented Karachi Kings in the tournament, the team which had qualified for the semi-finals of the competition. He amassed 239 runs in only five matches for his franchise at a strike-rate of 156.21 and an average of close to 60 before returning home.
