Kerala, Hyderabad, and Uttar Pradesh registered comfortable victories in the 2nd round games of the All India Buchi Babu Invitational Cricket Tournament while Haryana edged past Saurashtra in a thriller. The UPCA team registered their 2nd consecutive win despite another low score from Suresh Raina as they became the first team to confirm a semi-final berth in the tournament.

Mumbai vs Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association at SRMC:

Eklavya Dwivedi and Akshdeep Nath scored 81 runs each to share a 118-run 4th wicket partnership after they were reduced to 62/3 in their 236-run chase. Captain Suresh Raina scored just nine runs in the eight balls they faced in this game before he was cleaned up by Anjdeep Lad. Raina scored a 14-ball 16 in the last game against Chattisgarh.

Mumbai: 235/10 in 70.3 overs (Hardik Tamore 72, Ashaysar Desai 59*; Zeeshan Ansari 5/78)

UPCA: 237/5 in 58.2 overs (Eklavya Dwivedi 81, Akshdeep Nath 81; Anjdeep Lad 3/64)

UPCA won by five wickets

 

Saurashtra vs Haryana at IC Gurunanak:

Haryana were reduced to 235/9 in reply to Saurashtra’s 236 but safely reached the target to stay in the contention for a semi-final spot. Rohit Sharma and Guntash Veer Singh added 32 runs to the overnight total to extend their partnership to 77 runs before Guntash fell for 40. With the help of small partnerships, Rohit took his side closer to the target.

Haryana captain Mohit Sharma added some quick runs with Rohit to bring down the equation to 10 runs. The pair shared 46 runs for the 8th wicket before Mohit was dismissed after scoring a 28-ball 30. Rohit’s innings of 85 from 142 balls which included nine fours came to an end when Haryana were two runs away from the target. The last pair standing scored the required two runs to take their team past the winning line.

Saurashtra: 236/10 in 52 overs (Sheldon Jackson 120, Snell Patel 69; Chaitanya Bishnoi 5/26)

Haryana: 240/9 in 72.5 overs (Rohit Sharma 85, GV Singh 40; Vandit Jivrajani 3/42)

Haryana won by one wicket

 

Baroda vs Hyderabad at MRF Pachaiyappa:

Hyderabad chased down the 309-run target set by Baroda quite easily for the loss of four wickets. The opening pair of Tanmay Agarwal and Akshath Reddy put on a 115-run stand in just 113 balls. Tanmay hit a 71-ball 77 while Akshath scored 48 off 54 balls. Kolla Sumanth and Rohit Rayudu eased down the chase after they lost the openers with a 136-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. Sumanth hit seven fours and a six during his 81-run knock off 121 balls while Rohit scored and unbeaten 65 playing 117 balls.

Baroda: 308/8 in 90 overs (Abhijit Karambelkar 100, Prabhav Thakar 79; Mehdi Hasan 4/117)

Hyderabad: 309/4 in 65.2 overs (Kolla Sumanth 82, Tanmay Agarwal 77, K Rohit Rayudu 65*; Shlok Desai 2/35)

Hyderabad won by six wickets

 

Kerala vs Assam at CPT-IP:

Kerala registered a huge 235-run win after bowling out Assam to just 149 as five of their batsmen bagged ducks and four of them fell prey to Asif K M. Opener Subham Mandal scored 55 while Asif picked up six wickets as the chasing side was bowled out in just 51.5 overs.

Kerala: 380/10 in 87.4 overs (Vishnu Vinod 138, P Rahul 102; Riyan Parag 3/73)

Assam: 149/10 in 51.5 overs (Subham Mandal 55; Asif K M 6/22)

Kerala won by 235 runs
