Jammu and Kashmir will not host any domestic matches this season, but they will take part in the domestic competition. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has shifted all the domestic games out of the valley after the State Cricket Association reported its inability to hold the games, including the U-19 and U-23 matches. Rahul Johri, the BCCI CEO, has confirmed that the board has written to the state association that they will take care of the games.

Jammu and Kashmir were set to play three domestic games at home in the Ranji Trophy this season, but now they won’t be hosting any of them- against Gujarat from October 4th, against Kerala from November 1st and Haryana from November 17 onwards. Apart from these, around six age group games have been moved too.

BCCI steps in

The BCCI will also take care of the logistics of the state teams and has already asked for their account details to credit the daily allowances, match fee, outstanding dues. About 1.5 crore has either been transferred or will be sent across soon. Earlier it was being said that JKCA will withdraw its team from the forthcoming Ranji season. Their accounts were frozen by the judicial authorities following allegations of financial misappropriation.

“As players, we’re very worried as our careers are at stake. Being a senior player, I have written a detailed e-mail to Vinod Rai (CoA head) requesting his timely intervention, before we lose this season or miss out on some of the matches. The situation here in JKCA is grim as no pre-season preparatory activity has started yet.” said the veteran pacer Samiullah Beigh, few days back.

The team from the valley will have to play without any home advantage this season and it will be interesting to see how well they can respond to the challenge.
