Amit Mishra can play until the charges are proved: Rajiv Shukla: Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra, who was a part of the Indian squad in the recently concluded ODI series, was arrested in Bangalore on Tuesday, but was immediately released on bail. He appeared in front of police for a physical assault charges based on the complaint by a woman.

Senior BCCI official and IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said that that BCCI will look into the matter. However, he cleared the fact that the leg-spinner will be allowed to play unless charges are proved against him.

Shukla, on Tuesday, said the BCCI is looking into details regarding the charges levelled against India leg-spinner Amit Mishra for allegedly harassing a woman in Bangalore last month.

Mishra complied with the summon issued by the Bangalore police and appeared before them after he was booked for the charges based on the complaint by the woman. He was given seven days time to appear before the investigating officer.

The 32-year-old bowler is currently a part of the Indian Test squad for first two matches against the visiting South African side. But, Shukla feels the case will have no effect on his selection in the playing XI if the team management decides to include him.

Rajiv Shukla told the reporters, “I can say that BCCI has taken note of the matter. We are trying to find out the details of the case. The moment we get details, we will look into it. Police is doing their job. We will find out whether the person (Mishra) concerned is responsible for the crime or not. When we get the exact details, then only a decision will be made.”

“Unless BCCI takes a decision, selectors can pick him. The question of eligibility arises only when BCCI takes a decision,” he added.
