Team India registered a thrilling win in the finals of the Nidahas Trophy 2018. It was a last ball finish that saw Dinesh Karthik become the hero for the Indian fans with a thundering maximum over covers. The good wishes have come in flooding for the Indian team and Dinesh Karthik. Among the many celebrities who lined up to congratulate the team was Amitabh Bachchan.

The veteran Bollywood actor is an ardent follower of the sport. He took to micro blogging site Twitter to congratulate the Indian team for their superlative win. He admitted that Bangladesh had the Indian team on the back foot for a brief while. However, Dinesh Karthik had other plans. Amitabh Bachchan hailed the knock played by DK.

While the intentions of the senior actor were right, he messed it up with the numbers. Amitabh Bachchan ended up writing that 24 runs were needed to win in final two overs. In reality, team India needed 34 to win off the final two overs. Dinesh Karthik arrived at the crease and then smashed Rubel Hossain for 22 runs in the penultimate over of the run chase.

And later, in the final over, the equation was reduced to 5 needed off the final delivery. A monstrous hit from DK followed and that sealed the game for the Indian team.

Here is what Amitabh Bachchan tweeted after the game:

“T 2747 – INDIA WINS !! T20 in the TRI championship VS BanglaDesh .. what a thriller .. BD had us on the ropes .. and Dinesh Kartik, you beauty .. a brilliant knock .. 24 needed in last 2 overs .. 5 runs and 1 ball left and he hits a 6 ! INCREDIBLE ! CONGRATULATIONS !!” Amitabh Bachchan wrote in his congratulatory tweet for Dinesh Karthik.

Amitabh Bachchan was quick to cite his mistake in the tweet. He quickly posted another tweet to apologize to Dinesh Karthik for the blip he had made in his first tweet. Without taking any credits away, the senior actor congratulated the veteran cricketer for his efforts.

“T 2747 – that should read 34 needed in 2 overs .. NOT 24 .. apologies to Dinesh Kartik ..,” the actor wrote in his second tweet.
