Senior administrator and the acting supreme of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Mr. Amitabh Choudhary, recently revealed the good news about the renovation of the esteemed National Cricket Academy (NCA). The NCA, Bengaluru, has been the breeding ground for national cricketers in India. Over the last decade, there have been talks about the renovation of the academy.

However, things had been stagnated for long. Now, as per the recent quotes in Sportskeeda, Amitabh Choudhary remarked that the academy is all set to be renovated. He mentioned that the BCCI had made the official payments for the same back in the year 2005 and had been waiting for all the clearances since then. Now, they are finally ready to go ahead with 50 acres of land in hand.

“All of you are aware that for the last 12 years we had been waiting for a separate parcel of land for NCA and the BCCI had even paid 50 crores for this purpose way back in 2005. Unfortunately, this had remained in a limbo and we began fresh efforts last year. While the original parcel of land was aimed at the Nandi Hills area we this time around started focusing on Devanahalli aerospace park and I’m happy to tell you that not only the first 25 acres were registered against the amount which had been paid by the BCCI 12 years ago…but in addition to these 25 acres, we’d asked for another 25,” quoted Amitabh Choudhary on the sidelines of KPL opening ceremony.

Thankful to Karnataka Government

Speaking further on the same note, he expressed his gratitude towards the government bodies for their cooperation. He thanked the Karnataka government for having agreed for the plan and for having allocated the desired space of land. He also conceded that the area of the new Center for Excellence (COE) will have a 45m road on either sides of it to give it a complete look and feel of a developed area.

“They, (the Karnataka government) have agreed and have finally given us another 15 acres in the same plot. Which means we have an amalgamated total area of 40 acres. It’s almost a rectangle which means it will lend itself very well to good designing of facilities inside that. I must also add that two sides of this rectangle will have a 45m road. So all that is developed area,” he quoted.

Talking about the course of action that the BCCI will take in developing the new excellence center, Amitabh Choudhary conceded that they will leave no stone unturned in their bid to make it one of the finest in the world.

“Look, I would love this new NCA to be one of the finest in the world, the most creative. Our centre of excellence, as we will eventually know it, should not be second to any. It should be a cut above the best in the world,” he conceded.
