Following a 2-0 triumph in the Tests, the Windies cricket team has been greeted with some good news as Andre Russell has now made his way back into the ODI fold. Russell, who had previously been banned from international cricket after having been found guilty of doping by WADA. However, after serving his ban, it would seem as though Russell is ready and raring to go.

Windies coach Stuart Law has also annoucned his pleasure of having ‘Dre Russ’ back in the side and back in the grand scheme of things as well. He also added that Russell will add that little bit of spark to motivate the squad a little more.

“This is the start of our prep for 2019 CWC. Opportunities for players to stake a claim to be included in the squad. Great to have Dre Russ back as well. His explosive power and energy will breathe life into an already motivated squad,” Stuart Law, the Windies head coach, said.

Windies Cricket’s chairman Courtney Brown has also reiterated coach Stuart Law’s importance of looking ahead at the World Cup 2019 in England. In retrospect, he added that there are only the 16-odd ODIs the team will play ahead of the start of the tournament, and that their peparation is of supreme importance, to say the least.

“As we continue to prepare, there are only 16 ODIs leading up to the tournament. The panel will focus on giving opportunities from time to time to players that we believe can add value to the ODI team.”

Here is the ODI team for the upcoming Bangladesh series:

Jason Holder (c), Devendra Bishoo, Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope (wk), Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammed, Ashley Nurse, Keemo Paul, Kieran Powell, Rovman Powell, Andre Russell
