We witnessed another crackerjack of an encounter between Auckland and Canterbury for the third-place qualifier, and one will have to say, Auckland Team had too much firepower and managed to upstage the opposition comprehensively. Craig Cachopa, skipper of Auckland had won the toss and opted to bat first. Auckland Team managed to put up a mammoth total of 304 runs on the board, banking on the ton by experienced campaigner Jeet Raval.

Jeet Raval struck 149 runs off 153 balls, which eventually helped his team to dominate the game. His innings was laced with 10 boundaries and four mighty sixes. Canterbury skipper Andrew Ellis tried all odds to stop Raval but nothing went in favour of his team. Seeing this, Andrew Ellis came to bowl to see if that should stop him. In this scenario, he bowled a juicy half-volley and Raval charged down the wicket to make full use of it. However, the ball went straight towards the bowler and struck his head and eventually went over the boundary rope. The unwanted incident cost not only six runs to the opposition, but also led Ellis to suffer.

Fortunately, the incident didn’t turn out as serious as it looked at the first place as Andrew Ellis even came out to bat for his side, and tried his level best to contribute in the best way possible.

Here’s the video

Chasing the target, Michael Pollard and Michael Davidson provided a decent start as they were able to put up a 69-run stand on the first wicket. However, Canterbury needed someone to bat through the innings, but the thought didn’t turn into action as they lost wickets in quick succession. Few cameos coming from the bat of Todd Astle and Michael Pollard helped their side reach 197 runs but fell short by a significant margin.

Tarun Nethula, Sean Solia, and Lockie Ferguson picked eight wickets between them to help their side win an all-important encounter.
