Andrew Strauss conferred with Knighthood at the Buckingham Palace
Post his retirement, Strauss was named as the ECB director of cricket.

The former England captain has become the latest cricketer from the country to be knighted. Strauss, the only English captain of the past thirty years, to win an Ashes series Down Under, was knighted by Prince William at the Buckingham Palace in London.
The former English captains’ name was added by the former Prime Minister of the UK, Theresa May in her resignation speech along with another former cricketer Geoff Boycott. Strauss, who made his debut for England in 2004, went on to play 100 Tests for his country before retiring in 2012, scoring more than 7,000 runs at an average of 40 besides leading the team to two Ashes series wins- 2009 and 2010, including the one on Australian soil.
Moreover, Strauss also featured in 127 ODIs in which he racked up 4205 runs at an average of 35.63 with 6 tons, including the career-best of 158 against India.

Post his retirement, Strauss was named as the ECB director of cricket, and it was really under his leadership that the winds of change started to blow in English cricket, one that eventually led to the 2019 World Cup heist.
Strauss reflected on the World Cup victory when he said, “That World Cup victory on home soil did everything we hoped it might, it reached a broader section of the public and the way that game panned out. The heroes that were forged off the back of it, I’m thinking Ben Stokes and the massive transformation he’s had, it’s extraordinary to see that,” as quoted by India Today.
Strauss was knighted along with Theresa May’s Brexit negotiator Olly Robbins by the Duke of Cambridge at the ceremony. “We couldn’t be more delighted that Sir Andrew Strauss joins other giants within the sport who have been knighted for their achievements.
“Aside from his achievements on and off the pitch, Andrew is widely regarded as an exceptional person in our game and this wonderful accolade will be celebrated around the cricketing world,” ECB chief executive Tom Harrison said about Strauss’s knighthood.
