Andrew Strauss to come out of retirement and open the batting along with Alastair Cook: Tired of watching the England openers failing again and again, English Team Director and former opening batsman, Andrew Strauss has decided to come out of retirement and reunite with his former opening partner Alastair Cook.

Strauss and Cook who averaged 40.96 as a pair scored 4711 runs in 117 innings, second most runs by an opening pair behind Hayden and Langer since 1st January 2000. However, since Strauss retirement England batting has suffered badly, especially the openers. Ever since Strauss has retired, Cook has had 7 different opening partners in the form of Nick Compton, Sam Robson, Joe Root, Michael Carberry, Jonathan Trott, Adam Lyth and Moeen Ali.

Our world famous news correspondent Mr Rajdeep Pardesi got a chance to ask a few questions to the returning opener.

Rajdeep: Hey, Good day Mr Strauss, back to international cricket! Exciting news for cricket fans all over the world

Strauss: Thanks Mr Rajdeep, the decision was inevitable. Player after player would come; try his hand at opening and fail. I couldn’t bear the sight of failure

Rajdeep: Well you were part of the English cricket team for almost a decade, you should’ve quite used to failure by now.

Strauss: Well.. Not what I meant Mr Pardesi.

Rajdeep: Ok. Ok. What was it that prompted your decision? After all, you are 38 years old!!

Strauss: I was actually inspired by Misbah. He is 41 and even at that age if he can score so many runs, day in day out. I thought to myself, if Misbah can, why can’t I?

Rajdeep: My sources tell me that even Kevin Pietersen wanted to be back in the team, he even promised he can solve all the top order woes England are suffering and would open the batting with Cook.

Strauss: He did? I don’t know, he keeps calling from random numbers so I had to change my number. Even on twitter he keeps trolling me after every failed innings I had to block him.

Rajdeep: But will he ever play for England?

Strauss: That is a very tricky question. Will Rahul Gandhi ever become India’s Prime Minister? Your answer to this question is my answer to your question :p

Rajdeep: Haha. Well played. Great improvisation even off the field.

Strauss: Yea. Thanks.

Rajdeep: So when are you going to start playing again?

Strauss: Next game itself. We will drop Adil Rashid and let Moeen play in his place.

Rajdeep: Breaking news, no place for minorities in English team as Rashid is made to sit out. Modi’s regime in India has even changed English Cricket’s heart.

Strauss: Oh Man! How can your Prime Minister do this?

Rajdeep: hahahahah trolled. I was talking about Mr Lalit Modi. *rolling of the floor laughing*

Strauss: You are a sick man, Mr Pardesi. We are done here…….

And even though Strauss left, Mr Rajdeep was still rolling on the floor laughing and probably injured his back. He is rushed to the hospital and we hope to get more interviews from him once he is fine.
