Andrew Strauss to stick to No Kevin Pietersen policy: Kevin Pietersen the most talked about cricketer in the game today would have fancied his chances of making a comeback in the England test team as soon as he struck an amazing triple century in County cricket playing for Surrey he is unbeaten on 326 against Leicestershire. All the developments that were framing around the ECB all this while pointed towards there being a remote chance of the Exiled English cricketer getting another opportunity to get in the ranks. But the newly appointed England team Director Andrew Strauss met KP and reportedly told him that he should certainly dwell dreams of making his way back to the team, as he is not going to be considered.
Earlier in the year, the new ECB Chairman Colin Grave soon after taking over said if Pietersen remained committed to County cricket and scored runs here he might well be considered to represent the national team again. Following which KP withdrew his contract with the Indian Premier League team Sunrisers Hyderabad to play for Surrey.
He was excited after that incredible knock and was sure it would be noticed by the new Director, “There was a lot of pressure leading into today’s play,” said Pietersen
“It was a real big day for my career today. They say timing is everything. He [Strauss] has come in, there is a new chairman on Friday and there has to be a new coach now Moores has gone and it is an interesting time. What more can I do?
“I played well in the Big Bash, I gave up a contract in India, I am not being paid any money here and I am dedicated to getting my England place back. I want my England place and I think I deserve my England place.
This is one of the best innings I have ever played, “I was thinking about it while batting and, given the pressure I was under this morning, that is one of the best innings I have ever played purely because I knew that tomorrow there is a press conference and there were things happening this evening.
“I needed to answer any questions with runs on the deck. Goodness, 326 is a pretty good argument.” He further added
After meeting Straus, his tone changed as soon as he realized that whatever he does will bear no fruit and that a call back was not in the cards a dejected Pietersen said: “What more can I do? All I can do is score runs. I’m incredibly proud of how I played under pressure,”
“People were saying on social media that this would be a career-defining innings for me and they were asking me if I was ready for it. I knew there was a lot of pressure on me and I was feeling it.”
It is believed that KP will reconsider his plans now and could possibly fly to India to join the SRH team if they qualify for the play offs.
