Anil Kumble allegedly leaks team information with media on WhatsApp

Team India’s head coach, Anil Kumble has been in the limelight for the past few days for all the wrong reasons. This time around Anil Kumble is reported to have leaked some vital team information about one-on-one chats with senior players in the team to media personalities via popular mobile phone application WhatsApp.

A senior BCCI official came out to reveal that there was a WhatsApp group created by Anil Kumble which contained his influential media personalities companions and the legendary leg-spinner disclosed confidential information of some of the senior players in the team with his friends in media.

Media has been plagued with reports regarding unrest within the Indian team and drift in between players in the team and the coach. Anil Kumble is said to have an overbearing attitude and known to have a hard-taskmaster nature which did not go down well with Kohli and his men.

With the recent development within the team, it is highly unlikely that Anil Kumble’s tenure would be renewed. Kohli and co, had earlier demanded about the continuation of Team Director Ravi Shastri‘s stint as the head in the team.

“We’ve been told that there is a WhatsApp group created by Kumble of his few trusted media friends and few confidential talks between him and senior players were leaked through that” quoted a senior official of BCCI according to DNA.

“At this highest level, a team needs a good man manager and not a great name. We’ve seen how a cricketing great like Greg Chappell literally created a friction in Team India during his tenure. We certainly don’t want that kind of situation and I hope the three-member CAC — Sachin Tendulkar, Ganguly and VVS Laxman — would consider all these things before taking a final call,” added the official. “Kohli and Kumble are both strong personalities and Indian cricket fans would certainly not want a situation like the old,” concluded the insider from BCCI.
