Anil Kumble had a winning start to his new assignment as the head coach as the Indian team defeated hosts West Indies by a thumping margin of an innings and 92 runs.

Kumble took to social media to express his happiness and appreciated his team’s efforts in the game. He said, “Good win team. Great collective display of skill and determination by everyone. Let’s continue the momentum as we move to the next one @bcci”

Ravichandran Ashwin, just like he has been in recent matches, was the chief architect of the win. The off-spinner who went wicketless in the first innings snapped a 7-wicket haul on the day four wicket and helped India wrap up the game at the earliest.

Rajendra Chandrika, Marlon Samuels at the top fought it put for some time and tested the Indian bowlers a bit but soon the Ashwin began making inroads and wickets started falling in a hurry.

But, then again Carlos Brathwaite and Devendra Bishoo in the lower middle order frustrated the Indians for over 22 overs. Their resistance dragged the match till the last session of the day but eventually Ashwin polished off the tail to get things sorted out and ensure Indian won the match inside day four.
