BCCI president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke will meet the Supreme Court appointed Justice R M Lodha panel on August 9 after being asked to implement the Lodha panel recommendations by the SC.

ESPNCricinfo reported that the BCCI has requested a meeting as most of the state associations are yet to completely accept the Supreme Court verdict, although the panel is expected to help BCCI in implementing the reforms.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections have been frozen as per the SC directive on July 18. Similarly, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) elections which were held on July 19 electing a sitting state government minister Imran Raza Ansari has been declared null and void.

However, the Supreme Court’s verdict is a good news for the former cricketers as they will have a say in the proceedings of the game as they will be given membership. BCCI will be following the SC guidelines on lines of the Lodha Committee, which will be implemented by state associations like DDCA, MCA and others. Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will have to provide the maximum membership as around 70 of their cricketers who have represented Mumbai.

The executive committee of every state association will also consist of a former player who will be managing and representing the affairs of current players.

The Supreme Court has given the board 6 months to implement the recommendations and appointed RM Lodha, who is the former chief justice of India to oversee the transition. TS Thakur, Chief Justice of India, and Justice Ibrahim Kalifulla who have been hearing the case since January this year delivered the order.
