The CEO of Apple Tim Cook will finally know what it feels like to pay a visit for an Indian Premier League match as he will be in attendance when the Kolkata Knight Riders face off against the Gujarat Lions in the 51st match of the IPL at Kanpur. Reports suggest that Cook, who is currently on his visit to India was personally invited by the chairman of the IPL, Rajiv Shukla.

“I had personally invited Cook to watch an IPL match and I am glad that he has accepted my invitation,” Shukla told PTI on Thursday. Tim Cook has already hit the ground running in his four-day tour to the subcontinent. His itinerary includes visits to a few political leaders along with some industry experts and finally a few Bollywood celebrities. The 55-year old made a visit to the famous Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai. He also reportedly attended a party hosted by Bollywood mogul Shah Rukh Khan.

The situation for both the sides could not be any more exciting. It is quintessentially a semifinal of sorts as both of them will be requiring a victory to keep hopes of a playoffs spot alive. Ironically, both the Knight Riders, as well as the Gujarat Lions, have had similar paths in their season. They have had their good and bad patches in the tournament and will be expected to match each other stroke for stroke as they take on each other in the vast expanse of the Green Park in Kanpur.

In addition, both these sides have their matches against the Royal Challengers Bangalore recently. The Knight Riders were undone by some vintage chasing from Virat Kohli while the Gujarat Lions fell 144 runs short of their 248-run target at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Whether Tim Cook will be the lucky charm for the Lions in Kanpur remains to be seen.
