Appointment of Ravi Shastri approved, Zaheer and Dravid's on hold

In the recent CoA meeting, the appointment of Ravi Shastri as coach was finalised today but the decision of including Zaheer Khan and Rahul Dravid in the team’s support staff has been put on hold until July 22nd. The Committee of Administrator recently condemned CAC’s decision to include Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan in the ranks.

The entire drama over India’ s Head Coach position does not seem to end as it all started prior to the start of ICC Champions Trophy in England. The Anil Kumble resigned from the coveted position and Ravi Shastri, who earlier had a successful stint as the Team Director, was appointed as the head coach of the team.

The CAC appointed the new staff members by the names of Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan. CoA soon accused that the CAC overstepped its line by adding the two greats into the staff. CAC, in a scathing letter, hit back at the CoA to state that the decision made was well within the consent of Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri.

There is no such thing as contract as yet: Rai

As per reports, the appointments of other consultants will be decided by the committee in consultation with the head coach. “We have taken all the recommendations of the CAC for Ravi Shastri as head coach and we will further discuss with his appointment of other coaches. We have set up a committee and they will speak to them (CAC), communicate with them after talking to Shastri. The support staff has been decided in consultation with the head coach” commented Vinod Rai according to TOI.

“Three appointments which are core to the coaching team have been decided. But we have to consult each one of them, we have to ascertain their willingness and have to ensure that there is no conflict of interest issues. There is no such thing as a contract as yet. It’s only a recommendation. It’s not an appointment. A recommendation has been made and the CoA has to act on the recommendation, that recommendation will be acted upon in consultation with the head coach” concluded Rai on the appointment of Zaheer and Dravid
