Arijit Singh dedicates ‘Channa Mereya’ song for Smriti Mandhana in KBC

The episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) season 9 in which India Women Cricketers graced their presence was aired on Sony TV on Friday. The quiz show was filled with entertainment as the cricketers shared their candid moments with the legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan. But the most fun part of the night was the ‘Channa Mereya’ song that Arijit Singh sung for his biggest fan Smriti Mandhana.

Women’s cricket in India has got a new life thanks to the Indian team’s spectacular performance in the recently concluded Women’s World Cup. The India eves surprised one and all by entering the final of the mega event and though they lost the final by 9 runs, won hearts of millions of people back home. Since then they are being treated as celebrities which the cricketers richly deserve.

How the episode unfolded

The host of the show, Megastar Amitabh Bachchan affectionately welcomed the members of India Women’s team on the show. The skipper Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti, Veda Krishnamurthy, Deepti Sharma, Jhulan Goswami and Poonam Raut were invited in the show. The coach, Tushar Arothe, was also present as a special guest of the event. All the players got an experience of hot seat as they played the quiz in a group of two.

But they all had a great time and enjoyed the moments also sharing the lesser known parts of their life. Mithali Raj revealed how she was lazy in her early life and then her father enrolled her name in the cricket academy in order to get rid of her inactivity. The team also shared a few dressing room secrets which showed the strong bonding they hold between them.

The best moment of the night came when Amitabh Bachchan rang up Arijit Singh and made him talk to Smriti who is a die hard fan of the famous vocalist. The singer also dedicated the melodious song ‘Channa Mereya’ to the left-hander over the phone which was the cherry on the cake.

Amidst all the fun, the Indian team went on to win a whopping amount of Rs 6,40,000. The prize money was donated to the organisation called Prayas in Hyderabad.
