Arjun Tendulkar was one of the net bowlers for the India Women’s team, practising at the Lord’s ahead of the final against England. The 17-year-old is a left-arm pace bowler and right-handed batsman; he has been a part of the Mumbai U-14 and U-16 teams in the age group level. Arjun was bowling to Veda Krishnamurthy who has impressed one in all with her knocks, in the last few matches.

This is not for the first instance when Jr Tendulkar has been a part of the indoor nets sessions at Lord’s. He has made several appearances here with his legendary father over the past few years in the English summer.
Even during the recent ICC Champions Trophy, the teenager had the Indian media in a flurry when he padded up for a nets session. Earlier, he trained with the touring Indian team as well as with England ahead of a Test against Pakistan and South Africa.

Veda Krishnamurthy, often labelled as the ‘finisher’ has done justice to the role as soon as she got to feature in the team after missing out on the initial games.

In a video posted on Twitter Veda appeared to be a confident batsman, who backed herself constantly. One of her statements, in particular, was all over social media after that, “They have mid off and mid on up for you, an off spinner bowling, that’s an insult to me!”

The journey in brief for both sides

In what was expected to be a final where England would be the most likely finalists, India have stunned one and all after winning all the important games against toughest opponents.

In the semi-final against Australia, the defending champions were expected to be a big mountain to scale but Harmanpreet Kaur’s carnage of a performance coupled with excellent Indian bowling made the victory inevitable despite the heroics of Elyse Villani and Alex Blackwell.

Though India will have an upper hand over England as they have beaten them in the group stage, the hosts have visibly improvised after that loss to reach the finals.
