Arshdeep Singh has produced stunning performances with the ball in hand for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) side in the second leg of the 2021 edition of the IPL. Singh has already scalped 9 wickets in the 4 matches that he has played in the UAE leg.

And, former Indian batting icon Virender Sehwag feels that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) must make sure that the left-arm seamer is looked after well so that his talent does not go waste.

Adding that Arshdeep had worked with Zaheer Khan and learnt to swing the ball within just 3 days, the ‘Nawab of Najafgarh’ stated that Singh can provide a lot of benefits for whichever side he plays for with the ball in hand.

“That’s a typical bowling from a left-arm fast bowler that comes in after pitching away from the off stump. He [Arshdeep] said he worked with Zaheer Khan for three days. If he can swing the ball in within three days, imagine the benefits he can provide to the Indian team if he spends some time with them. If such a player is not in the team, then the BCCI must look after him and make sure his talent doesn’t get wasted,” said Virender Sehwag in a chat with Cricbuzz.

Arshdeep Singh is a fine bowler: Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag also termed Arshdeep Singh as a fine bowler and concluded by stating that if the left-arm seamer can continue to work hard on his game, then he can even go on to represent the Indian cricket team at the international level.

“Arshdeep is a very fine bowler and if he continues to work hard and perform like this, he would surely make it to Team India someday,” concluded Virender Sehwag.

Virender Sehwag played 104 Tests, 251 ODIs, and 19 T20Is for India. The right-hander plundered 8586 runs in the whites, while he amassed 8273 runs in the ODI format of the game. In T20I cricket, the 42-year-old scored 394 runs. Sehwag has also played 104 IPL matches and scored 2728 runs at a whopping strike rate of 155.44.
