England’s battle on the fourth day of the ongoing third Ashes Test continued at Headingley. They will have to win this match to keep the hopes of regaining the Ashes alive. Australia won the previous series at home and the Joe Root-led side should win the series now to earn the urn. On the other hand, if the visitors manage to win the match, they will retain the urn and the result of the last two matches won’t hold significance as far as the series is concerned.
Regardless of what happens at Headingley on Sunday, England will have to find answers to some serious questions about their Test side. The top-order and especially the openers have been an issue for a long time now and the Australian bowlers have worked them out beautifully. Jason Roy’s back to back six failures have raised doubts over his place in the side now.
Despite so many issues, the dressing room looks to be in good spirits if the scenes ahead of the crucial day’s play are taken into consideration.
Roy’s weird act
An interesting incident took place ahead of the start of play on Sunday with Jason Roy at the centre of it. While warming up in the training kit in the morning, Joe Denly asked Roy to pass the water bottle. Roy, at the same time, was drinking the water and before passing it on to his teammate, he hilariously spit back the drunk water into the bottle again.
Looking at Jason Roy do it, Denly refused to take the bottle and turned a blind eye towards him and the latter even couldn’t control his laughter. The video is going viral on social media at the moment with even fans wondering what Roy did.
As far as the fourth day’s play is concerned, England have been rocked early with Nathan Lyon dismissing Joe Root early courtesy a brilliant catch from David Warner. The hosts haven’t scored many runs yet and with the second new ball to come, it looks extremely tough for them now to overhaul 359 to keep the Ashes alive.
