There seems to be no end to England’s batting woes as the visitors finished day two with already four wickets down at the score of just 31. Earlier in the day, Marcus Harris finally came back into some form as he notched up his second-best score of 76 in Tests. The veteran England pacer James Anderson was the star as he bagged a four- wicket haul including crucial scalps of Steve Smith and half-centurion Harris.

Australia got bowled out for 267 taking a handy lead of 82 runs. England’s pathetic display of batting continued as the top three batters got out for just 12 runs between them with Haseeb Hameed’s poor tour getting stretched. Nightwatchman Jack Leach got out for a duck as the the tourists found themselves in big trouble at 31/4 at stumps.

The skipper and the man in golden form Joe Root remained not out on 12 with Ben Stokes coming in to bat only five minutes before close of pla. Again, the responsibility will be on captain Root’s shoulder to steady the England ship with the support of Stokes, Bairstow, and Buttler. While the hosts look well set for yet another big victory, England will have to bat really well to turn things around.

Here are the important stats and numbers from Australia vs England, 3rd Ashes Test Day 2:
