A spree of errors were made both by the batter as well as the fielder. But in the end, the batter was still safe on the 1st day of the 1st Ashes Test match. If you are wondering what this is about, the batter who is referred to here is David Warner, and the fielder is Haseeb Hameed.

The incident took place off the last ball of the 37th over of the Australian innings. Warner played the ball towards the leg side and left the crease. But in his attempt to return back, the left-hander slipped and fell, and the bat slipped out from his hand. Warner was also out of his crease at that point of time.

The fielder at short leg, Haseeb Hameed, took his time to have a shy at the stumps. But then, Hameed missed his mark, and as a result, Warner survived.

David Warner’s 94 helps Australia boss over England

David Warner rode his luck on his way to a splendid 94 on the second day. He was bowled off a No-ball, was also dropped in the slips, and the Aussie batting legend made sure that Joe Root and his men paid for giving him so many reprieves. He was finally dismissed 6 runs short of his century.

Australia are at a commanding position in the Test match, with their scorecard reading 201/5. They already lead England by 54 runs. Apart from Warner, Marnus Labuschagne scored a masterly 74 off 117 deliveries, and the 156-run partnership between the Warner-Labuschagne duo helped Australia dominate England.

Batting legend Steve Smith failed to make an impact. Smith’s stay out in the middle lasted only 19 balls, and the right-hander was dismissed for 12 runs by pacer Mark Wood.
