Ashes 2021-22: Jos Buttler takes a one-handed stunner to send back Marcus Harris

Jos Buttler defied gravity to pull off a stunner on Day 1 of the second Ashes Test match between Australia and England at the Adelaide Oval. Stuart Broad bowled a short delivery to Marcus Harris, and the left-hander went for the pull.

But, Harris did not connect as well as he would have liked to. And Jos Buttler, who was stationed behind the stumps with the gloves sprung to action. The England wicketkeeper dived full length to his right and pulled off an absolute screamer.

The commentators were also amazed by Buttler’s sensational piece of work. “Oh taken is it? Brilliant, Jos Buttler. Absolutely brilliantly taken down the leg side,” screamed one of the commentators on air. Harris departed after contributing just 3 runs.

Australia end the first session with their scorecard reading 45/1

After the departure of Marcus Harris, the duo of David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne stitched together a patient 41-run unbeaten partnership for the second wicket, and Australia ended the 1st session with their scorecard reading 45/1.

James Anderson and Stuart Broad bowled probing deliveries, but Warner and Labuschagne played the waiting game against the two bowling greats to end the first session unscathed. England are 0-1 down in The Ashes, with Australia thrashing Joe Root and his men by 9 wickets in the 1st rubber at The Gabba.

Meanwhile, Aussie skipper Pat Cummins will miss the 2nd Ashes Test match after he was found to be in contact with a person who was Covid-19 positive. Steve Smith has donned the skipper’s hat for the 2nd Ashes Test.
