Legendary spinner Shane Warne reckoned that there’s lack of swing in the opening Test of the ongoing Ashes Test at The Gabba in Brisbane. Subsequently, he has faced a lot of trolls on social media platforms. After England opted to bat first after winning the toss, they found themselves in all sorts of strife right from the word go. Mitchell Starc gave the home team a breakthrough in the very first ball of the game.
The left-arm speedster castled opening batter Rory Burns for a golden duck. Burns tried to flick the ball away on the leg side only to see his stumps go for a walk. Starc was delighted after he was able to pick up the wicket so early in the game. The seamer was also able to generate a significant amount of swing. Thereafter, Josh Hazlewood wreaked havoc, getting rid of Dawid Malan and skipper Joe Root.
Root faced nine balls before perishing for a duck. The Three Lions also lost Ben Stokes in the first session as Pat Cummins added to the wickets’ column. Having lost four wickets in the first session, the Brits looked in awful touch, to say the least. Haseeb Hameed, who got past the first session, couldn’t survive long as Cummins sent him packing.
Australian pacers unfold mayhem
Ollie Pope and Jos Buttler scored 35 and 39 respectively, but couldn’t convert their starts. At the time of writing this article, Cummins went on to pick up five wickets in 13.1 overs. Apart from Burns, Starc also got the wicket of Buttler, who has the potential to do a lot of damage. Cameron Green also chipped in with the important wicket of Pope.
Nathan Lyon, the lone-spinner in Australia’s lineup, hadn’t made a breakthrough when England’s score was 147 for 10 in 50.1 overs. It goes without saying that the opening day’s play has belonged to the fast bowlers.
Earlier, Warne, the all-time second-highest wicket-taker in Tests, said, “I don’t think there’s any swing is there? There’s no swing!” From there on, the netizens on Twitter poked fun and trolled him for not being able to judge the playing conditions properly despite being a veteran.
Here’s how the netizens trolled Shane Warne
how can a bloke with 700 test wickets be so clueless it makes no sense

Don't know who's worse, Shane Warne (Cricket) or Braith Anasta (NRL) when it comes to analysing the game.

@ShaneWarne take note of what EVERYONE is saying, we haven’t taken over 700 test wickets like you but we seem to have more of a clue that this did swing….stop the hate towards starc and just commentate on the game or bugger off, you are very fast becoming the worst commentator
