For many years, Ashish Nehra has been regarded as one of the nicest players in the international cricketing circuit. The 37-year old proved the world wrong with his longevity when he made multiple comebacks to the side once in 2011 for the World Cup and once again in 2016 for the World T20. However, in spite of all this, the fact of the matter remains – he is one of the nicest people you would ever come across.

This story involving Nehra and Sonnet’s coach Tarak Sinha is featured in one of the chapters of the book – ‘Driven – the Virat Kohli Story’. The story begins with how the 37-year old found out about his coach’s eviction notice from the Sonnet Club and how he found his coach missing from the club during his playing days.

The Sonnet Cricket Club in Delhi has showcased many a cricketer who has played for India in the past. Virat Kohli and Ashish Nehra are some of those players who have been a part of the India side and graduated from the Sonnet Cricket Club.

When Nehra found out about his coach’s eviction notice, he could not sit and stand idly by. Sinha had also moved away from the club and had gone under the radar perhaps fearing embarrassment in front of his pupils at the Club. However, when the southpaw found out about his coach, he decided to save his coach of many years the embarrassment.

Sinha had been served an eviction notice and would have also been kicked out of his house premises if not for the gesture from Nehra. Within a week of the notice, Nehra had gifted a new house to his old coach and ensured that he didn’t have to go through any more trouble in this regard.

Sinha is also popularly known in cricketing circles as a coach who produces players to play in the Ranji Trophy. Shikhar Dhawan, Anjum Chopra, and Aakash Chopra are among those who are his graduates.
